Rethinking Questioning urban realities: A "different look" on the identity of the 14 Faculties of U. Porto

The communication exercise - rethinking to question urban realities - A "different look" on the identity of the 14 Faculties of the U. Porto - has the general objective of leading each group of students to create, throughout the Semester, different visual, critical and poetic narratives these architectural programs and their relationship with the city and modes of appropriation.

The book or zine must reflect a group identity and a critical look at the architecture and city space of which it is a part, representing at different scales and in the light of a new perspective, the richness and diversity of characteristics of each place or selected space, both in its interior and exterior experience. This means, among other things, using photography as a research tool and representing / communicating in a critical and poetic way the different spaces and the building.

Understand the structure of the diversity of spaces at the Faculty in terms of (a) distinct areas or zones, (b) paths, (c) borders, (d) nodes or intersections and (e) landmarks, as well as the shape / space exterior and interior spaces, environments, experiences.

Spatial attributes such as exposure and visual access or physical elements such as corners, surfaces, horizontal and vertical elements, aspects such as borders, approximation and interaction with objects are all subject to research and manipulation through a visual narrative that should represent a “promenade” architectural ”and express the ideas and problems related to the perception of idealized spaces.

The conclusion of this exercise is limited to the end of the semester and presupposes the final version of the work, duly identified, in a gallery space on the Visual Spaces of Change (VSC) platform already created for this purpose. It is intended that the VSC platform becomes an open space for the entire academic community and other institutions and people with an interest in these matters, making the work of students developed in the course visible and accessible, so that each group can proceed analysis of the work of his colleagues, with a space - social network of the course / forum - for the exchange of ideas between students and comments about the work done. The management and storage of information is the responsibility of each student and the group, which will have its own disk space for this purpose.
